Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now it is the start of my (and the majority of people) favorite time of year. But I won't let Thanksgiving go unnoticed, since it was the first one for Chase, even though I didn't take as many pictures as I probably should have.

The holiday started off Wednesday night when Grampy came over to play and take us out for a yummy dinner at Rib Crib. Grampy was headed to Arkansas the next day to see Aunt Wendy and Uncle Tim and do a little black Friday shopping. It was a nice evening, and Chase was more than worn out by the end of it. The only picture I have of the evening is Grampy rocking Chase to sleep. Grampy had a very, should I say, unique?, position for Chase...

Thanksgiving day we woke up and watched the Macy's parade on TV, then headed over to DeeDee and Bobo's for some turkey afternoon dinner. Chase got to try a couple of new things for his first Thanksgiving. He first tried some diluted apple juice... and I do believe he loved it...

He then tried some turkey mixed with sweet potatoes. I wasn't sure how well this would go over, Chase has just now started experimenting with meats. I gave him some chicken with chicken gravy a few days before and I am really bummed that I didn't have the video going for his reaction to that. He literally jumped out of his chair and made a very sour face, it was definitely funny home video worthy, could have won us 10 grand, oh well. I have a photo but it does not do the reaction justice at all, the photo makes him look like he could possibly like the chicken, and I don't think he really did at all..

The turkey and sweet potatoes, I think he liked, but sweet potatoes are his all time favorite, so it may have been what made the whole turkey thing okay...

After dinner Chase spent some time with cousin Matt and watched some football.

Daddy stretched out and watched some of the game too...

Chase spent lots of time with cousin Mandy, if she is around and Chase sees her, he will reach for her 99% of the time...

Mandy's boyfriend Derek joined us later in the afternoon... what a cute couple...

Unfortunately that is all the Thanksgiving pictures I took. Chase spent a lot of time with Bobo, DeeDee, Uncle Rick and Aunt Suzy and I didn't get any pictures of that. Gramma and Nanny were also there but I didn't seem to catch them in any pictures either. Chase's Uncle David and Aunt Jill and cousins spent Thanksgiving in Pryor this year.

So I have to admit, I have had all my inside Christmas decorations up since the first weekend of November. I don't know why, I have never, EVER, decorated that early before! I guess I was just excited to see what Chase would do with all the Christmas tree lights.. which of course he is very curious about... (these two photos are small cause I took them on my cell phone...)

With the help of Chase, pretty much all the shopping is done too!!! Chase loves to shop, there is so much to look at!

Daddy has been busy too, the day after Thanksgiving it was a beautiful day (almost 70 degrees!!) Daddy and Chase worked really hard and got all the outside lights up, and the house just looks festive!!!

Daddy worked into the dark getting things finished, but Chase had to come inside when it started getting chilly...

Just the boys...

Chase LOVES his cousin Devon! I am certain that as soon as Chase starts walking he will be following Devon everywhere. They are already such good pals, the other day at Ella's 5th birthday party, Devon and Chase sat together for awhile. Devon was telling Chase how they have the same kind of blue blankets! Then they read a book together. Devon is the coolest cousin...

I guess the mouth open thing is not just a 'Chase' thing...

Bobo was showing Devon how to take some super pictures of all the action at the party...

And Chase had a blast hanging out with Poppy while his buddy Devon was off taking pictures..

Devon gave some pointers on how to give some high fives...

And then we had to head home. We missed daddy for our Friday fun, but he was busy with his poker night, which turned out to be well worth it because he won and brought home lots of money!!! Yeah Daddy!

Chase versus Aunt Suzy

Who gets the food in Chase's mouth better... Chase feeding himself or his Aunt Suzy feeding him... you be the judge...

Chase

Aunt Suzy

Chase

Aunt Suzy

Chase

And the winner is...

Aunt Suzy!!! For two reasons, ONE, Chase should NOT be eating flour tortillas yet, as he scared the poo out of mommy and daddy when he tore off that little piece and choked, and TWO, this picture is just too darn CUTE, sweet potatoes up Chase's nose and all!!!

Random Pictures

Chase went to the doctor today, he is 22.8 pounds and 29 1/2 inches long. He's off the growth chart, the doctor is convinced we have a huge baby on our hands. He sure has made up for his rough start!!! Chase is pretty much crawling now, which also blew the doctor away, apparently most babies don't crawl until 8 months. He definitely has the army crawl down, with a few normal crawls every now and again. He is sitting on his own with no problem. Chase is also on the "2" foods and is loving every bite of it.

We are going to have to lower the mattress, Chase has discovered how to pull the mobile closer to him... lets play I spy a baby's head in the mobile...

Chase has never really been a nap kind of guy. I don't know if he thinks he is going to miss something, if he just thinks he is too old for naps or what the problem is. Lately he has been playing himself to sleep, it's actually kind of funny. You hear him screaming and playing and bouncing around, then out of nowhere, you look over and see this...

Silly kid.

Raking leaves, new bathtubs, and giddy up!!!!

The leaves are falling, falling down! Nothing out of the ordinary for the front yard, with the huge magnolia tree that lives there, which sheds its leaves ALL year round. But in the back, that huge tree is losing leaves and shedding its stinky balls. I have no idea what kind of tree it is, what I do know, is that it drops these balls that if they get smashed in the slightest, let out a repugnant odor. Lulu LOVES to roll around in the stink... of course. Anyway, not much we can do but rake, rake, rake it all up! (I guess I should say not much DANNY can do..haha!)

I'm pretty sure Chase didn't find this as amusing as mommy and daddy thought it was cute...

Umm yep... this face confirms the assumption of how amusing Chase thought this was...

After putting all the leaves in piles, Chase quickly bagged them up so mommy and daddy couldn't pose him in the pile again...

After all that work, we had to clean Chase up! He has pretty much out grown the bathtub for the sink (and I so dearly miss it already and it has only been a week!). Now he is taking baths in the big bathtub, in a little ducky bathtub. I think he was a little freaked out at first, he was smiling, but he didn't want to get his feet wet...

Then he got use to it, put his feet in, and really started playing and splashing around...

And now for the toy story... Chase has started this new thing where he jumps constantly. You really can't hold him in front of you and look at him or stand him on anything without him trying to jump. Originally, Danny and I had bought him this bouncy horse thing at the Just Between Friends sale for a Christmas present. But after he started this jump thing, we knew he was going to have to get the horse early... and he goes NUTS in this thing, it's hilarious when he really gets going!!
